Harold E. Vance

FULTON, Ill. — Harold E. Vance, 87, of Fulton, died Thursday at Wyndcrest Nursing Home, Clinton.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Fulton Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Stanley Bomgarden, pastor of Fulton Presbyterian Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Lusk Memorial Cemetery, Albany, Ill.

He was born May 23, 1918, in Macomb, Ill., to John A. and Dora O. Ellis Vance.

He was educated in Colchester, Ill., grade schools and graduated from Colchester High School. He received a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University, Macomb, and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois. He also had doctoral hours at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

He married Eloise L. Conley on Jan. 16, 1943. She died in 1964. He then married Beulah J. Daw on March 10, 1966, in Rock Falls, Ill.

He taught G.I. classes in Fulton. He taught for 37 years in Arrow Smith, German Valley, Elburn and River Bend schools in Fulton. He also was employed with the Fulton Flood Control District for 11 years.

He was a member of Fulton Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, trustee, Sunday school teacher and building committee member. He also was a member of Fulton City Lodge 189-AF&AM.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Dianne (Richard) Londo of Roscoe, Ill., and Mrs. Ladora (Larry) Eberle of Richmond, Va.; three stepsons, Paul James of Rock Falls, Donald (Judy) James of Erie, Ill., and Charles (Susan) James of Sacramento, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Claribel Carson of San Diego.

Memorials may be made to Fulton Presbyterian Church.
