LOST NATION — Darlene M. McCutcheon, 84, of Lost Nation, died Monday at the Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Union Presbyterian Church, Lost Nation, with the Revs. Paul Skelley and Iola Lee McCutcheon officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, rural Maquoketa. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Lahey Funeral Home, Lost Nation.

She was born June 10, 1921, in Delmar to William F. and Gertrude Furrow Jones. She married Kermit McCutcheon on July 15, 1945, at the United Methodist Church, Delmar.

She graduated from Delmar High School in 1940 and later from Clinton Business College.

She was a secretary and bookkeeper with Joyce and Fullerton Lumber, Lost Nation for more than 30 years. She also owned and operated Lost Nation TV and Appliance with her husband for 36 years before retiring in 1990.

She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Lost Nation, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 25 years. She was a 54-year member of the Lost Nation American Legion Auxiliary, den mother to the Lost Nation Cub Scouts for five years and she volunteered at the Lost Nation school and Scoop.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Tommy McCutcheon of Lost Nation and James (Margie) McCutcheon of Burrton, Kan.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
