Charles “Monty” Pidde

THOMSON, Ill. — Charles “Monty” Pidde, 73, of Thomson, died Monday at his home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson, with the Rev. Michael Jones, pastor of York Baptist Church, Thomson, officiating. Burial will be in the Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Glenn and Steve Whiting, Terry McCunn, Jim Benzen, LeRoy Bailey and Mike Mulligon.

He was born Aug. 4, 1932, in Amherst, Wis., to Carl and Bernice Whiting Pidde. He married Myrna Sander on Oct. 9, 1959, in Preston.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He worked as a carpenter for more than 30 years.

He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 790 and American Legion Post 1025, Thomson.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Guy Pidde of Fulton, Ill., Cory (Diane) Pidde of Mount Carroll, Ill., and Curt Pidde of Thomson; two daughters, Mrs. Kim (Joe) McCray of Mount Carroll and Mrs. Carrie (Duke) Hebeler of Thomson; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Pat (Virgil) Poage of Bremen, Ga., and Mrs. Janet (Ron) Port of Lyndon, Ill.
