Irene Mary Gregersen, 79, of Sabula, died Thursday at her home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Krueger officiating. Burial will follow at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Craig Jensen, Cory Machande, David Paysen, John Loots, Todd Tietjens, Greg Johnson Jr. and Sy Sandholdt.

She was born Feb. 28, 1926, on a farm near Andover to Moritz and Alvina Rickertsen Jensen. She married John Phillip Machande on Oct. 22, 1947, at St. John Lutheran Church, Preston. He died in 1960. She married Frank Gregersen on Jan. 4, 1969. He died in 1984.

She was a graduate of Goose Lake High School.

She farmed with her parents and husband prior to working at the Clinton Garment Company. After her first husband died she worked in various factories and cooked at Goose Lake School and worked at Jane Lamb Hospital as a ward clerk. She later helped people with home care, and worked at Island City Harbor before retiring.

She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula, the Charlotte-Miles Legion and the Clinton, DeWitt and Savanna Moose Club for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Emmett (Crystal) Machande of Sabula and Frank Gregersen of Anchorage, Alaska; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials be made to Calvary Lutheran Church, Mercy Hospice or the Goose Lake Lions Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one daughter and two brothers.
