The Clinton Herald Thursday October 11, 1934 p. 5 Mrs. Wilhelmina Marie Schagt, 83, died at 6 o'clock Wednesday evening in her rural home, nine miles west of this city, following an illness of nine weeks' duration. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the home. The Rev. John F. Schulz, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church, will officiate. Burial will be in Dierks cemetery. Wilhelmina Wilke was born March 5, 1851, in Germany, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Chris Wilke. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Germany, and in 1863 come to the United States with her parents, and direct to this county, where she has always lived. She was married in 1870 to John Ludwig Schagt, and since that time she has lived on the farm where she died. Mr. Schagt preceded her in death Aug. 31, 1909. A daughter, Anna, died in 1913, and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Schmidt and Mrs. August Pehrs, also preceded her in death. Surviving are six daughters and three sons, J.C. Schagt of Ida Grove, Mrs. Mathilda Schoel of this city and the following children at home, Ella, Emma, Wilhelmina, Otto, Bertha, Louis and Augusta; three grandchildren, Dorinda, LeRoy and Corinne Schagt, of Ida Grove, and one sister, Mrs. Hans Frehse of Denison.
