The Clinton Morning Age Sunday August 3, 1902 p. 8 Saturday at 8:39 o'clock occurred the death of Jurgen Joens at 337 Fourteenth avenue. During the day he complained of a headache but nothing was thought of it. Towards evening a company of friends gathered at his house to play cards. Mr. Joens took a lively interest in the game and betrayed no signs of illness. Suddenly his son George, who was seated next his father, noticed the aged man's head had fallen forward on his chest. George inquired if anything was the matter and received no reply. The father had died without saying a word. Coroner Hamilton was at once notified and head a review, at shich the cause of death was decided on. The deceased was 71 years of age and was born in Germany. He had been a resident of Clinton for over twenty years and had a large circle of friends, who will be shocked to hear of his sudden death. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and a son, George of this city. The funeral arrangements have not yet been definitely announced but will in all probably be held Tuesday afternoon, interment following in Springdale cemetery.

The Clinton Herald Monday August 4, 1902 Jurgen Jones, an old resident of Clinton, died suddenly at 8:30 o'clock Saturday evening at his home, 337 Fourteenth avenue. During the day he had complained of a headache, but was not seriously ill. At night a company of his neighbors, as was their wont, gathered at his home to enjoy a game of cards. Mr. Jones took a hand in the game, and showed a lively interest in the amusement. Suddenly he fell forward. Thinking he had reached down to pick up a fallen card the other players did not suspect anything was wrong for a moment. Then to their alarm they saw that the old gentleman was unable to arise. A hasty examination showed that he was dead, he having passed away without a sound or struggle. Coroner Hamilton was at once notified, and repaired to the Jones home, but after hearing the testimony of those present, decided that an inquest was not necessary, so none was held. Heart disease is guven as the cause of Mr. Jones' sudden death. Jurgen Jones had for over twenty years made his home in Clinton, and was wellknown throughout the city. He was 71 years of age, coming from Germany when young. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and a son, George Jones, of this city. The funeral is to be held Tuesday afternoon, with services at the late residence on Fourteenth avenue at 2:30 o'clock, and interment in Springdale cemetery.

The Clinton Morning Age Wednesday August 6, 1902 p. 4 The funeral of Jurgen Joens took place Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home, 337 Fourteenth avenue. Burial was made at Springdale cemetery.
