The Clinton Herald Monday January 14, 1946 p. 8 John H. Joens, 72, of 512 Main avenue, died at 10 a.m. Sunday in Jane Lamb hospital after illness of more than a year. The body is in the Shadduck funeral home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. F.E. Schoenbohm, pastor of Zion Lutheran church, will officiate and burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Mr. Joens was born Nov. 16, 1873, in Hampshire township, Clinton county, the son of the later Peter and Anna Peters Joens. He spent his early life farming and came to Clinton 26 years ago. He was a member of the Lutheran church. Surviving are two brothers, Claus, of Clinton, and Hans route 3, Clinton; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Gradert, Mrs. Hans Eggers and Mrs. Adolph Andersen, all of Clinton; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Peter Joens; a brother-in-law, Julius Schoel, and several nieces and nephews. His parents, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
