The Clinton Herald Saturday June 20, 1970 p. 8 Mrs. Harold K. Joens, 52, 1034 College Ave., died in Mercy Hospital this morning. Funeral services are pending at the Snell-Smith funeral home, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday. The former Mildred K. Krongard was born July 9, 1917, in Clinton, the daughter of Jurgen and Katherine Nelson Krongard. She married Harold K. Joens Dec. 26, 1945, in Clinton. She attended Clinton public schools, was a Clinton High School graduate in 1935, was a telephone operator for many years at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co., was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church and the Gertrude Guild. Survivors include her husband; one son, Steven K., a mid-shipman with the U.S. Naval Academy; one sister, Mrs. Eugene F. (Helen) Covert of Clinton; and one brother, Gerald D. of Camanche. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
