The Clinton Herald Tuesday April 8, 1941 p. 5 Claus Joens, 93, 1107 Pershing boulevard, died at 9:15 p.m. Monday in his home, following six month's illness. The body will repose in the family home this evening and until11 a.m. Wednesday when it will be returned to the Snell funeral home for services at 2:30 o'clock that afternoon. Dr. Thomas Hortonof St. John's Episcopal church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Mr. Joens was born Nov. 8, 1847, in Germany, the son of Peter and Anna Joens. He and Miss Margaret Christine Grimm were married Feb. 5, 1874, in Williamsburg, N.Y., where they lived for a short time before moving to this city. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Bertha M.Joens of Clinton, a son, Charles H. Joens of Omaha, Neb., and three grandchildren. Mrs. Joens died in 1930, one the same date as her husband. Two sons, Claude F. Joens, and one in infancy, also preceded him in death.
