The Clinton Herald Monday October 10, 1938 p. 5 Claude F. Joens, well known resident of Clinton for many years, died Saturday evening in Omaha following an operation. He was 60 years old. Mr. Joens came to Clinton with his parents at the age of two, and lived here for 33 years. In Clinton he was connected with a wholesale gracery firm and later entered the retail grocery business. Prominent in musical circles, Mr. Joens was organist and choir master at St. John's Episcopal church for many years. Claude F. Joens wsa born Sept. 16, 1878 in Philadelphia, son of Claus and Margaret Joens. his marrieage to Miss Mamie Miller in Joliet, Ill., took place Sept. 8, 1906. To this union a daughter and a son were born. Suriving are the widow, Mamie, son, Karl, of Omaha; the daughter, Margaret, New York City; the father, Claus, and sister, Miss Bertha, both of Clinton, and brother, Charles, Omaha. Mr. Joens' mother, preceded him in death. The Rev. Thomas Horton oof St. John's Episcopal church will officiate at the funeral services, for which plans are incomplete.
