The Clinton Herald Saturday September 8, 1951 p. 11 Funeral services for Mrs. Hans Joens, 54, of 722 Main avenue, will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Shadduck funeral home, with Rev. F.E. Schoenbohn officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Mrs. Joens died early Friday afternoon in Mercy hospital where she had been a patient since she suffered a stroke Sept. 1. The body is in the funeral home where friends may call. Mrs. Joens was born Jan. 16, 1897, in Center township, the daughter of the late Theodore and Mary Everson Stolk. She was baptised in the Lutheran faith. She was married to Hans Joens, Nov. 21, 1917, in Clinton. They farmed northwest of Clinton until 1948 when they moved to Clinton. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran church. Surviving are her husband; a son, Ralph, near Clinton; one grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Ben Hendes and Mrs. Claus Joens, both of Clinton; three brothers, John and Theodore Stolk, of Clinton, and Fred Stolk, of Bryant; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Hans, two sisters, Mrs. Max Gielow and Louise Stolk, who died in childhood.
