The Clinton Herald Saturday January 7, 1911 p. 8 At 4 o'clock Friday afternoon at her home near the west Six-Mile house, occurred the death of Anna Elizabeth Joens, wife of Peter Joens, a prosperous farmer of Hampshire township. The sad news came as a great shock to the members of her family and the many friends throughout the vicinity, especially so as Mrs. Joens had been ill but a short time, since Tuesday of this week. The deceased was born in Germany on June 17, 1852. At the time of death, she was about 59 years and 6 months old. A large family is left to mourn her loss. In addition to the husband, who survives, are eight children, John, Peter Jr., Claus and Hans Joens, Mrs. Julius Schoel, Mrs. Otto Gradert, Mrs. Hans Eggers and Mrs. Adolf Andersen. Two daughters and one son died some time ago. In addition two sisters, Mrs. John Holm and Mrs. Herman Holm, survive, as do also nine grandchildren. The funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 10, at 1 o'clock sharp, from the home in the country. Interment will take place in the Dierks cemetery.
