The Clinton Herald Wednesday September 17, 2003 p. 11A Wilfrid L. (Bill) Struve, of 2131 First Avenue S.E., died Tuesday Sept. 16, 2003 at University of Iowa Hospitals, following a brief illness. Services at 10:30 AM on Friday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where there will also be Masonic services. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home and after 9:30 AM on Friday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of Cedar Rapids, a son James H. Struve and his wife Becky of Chariton, 7 grandchildren, Richard W. Struve and wife Laurie of Cedar Rapids, Thomas J. Struve and wife Tanja of Van Horne, Angela Vaupel and husband Michael of Overland Park, Kansas, Karen Pearson of Vinton, Brian Struve of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Jennifer Storer and husband Paul of Little Rock, Arkansas and Cathe Franz and husband Jeff of Iowa City and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest H. Struve and Anna Louise Christensen Struve of Clinton, and a stepmother Kathryn Lenz Arn Struve of Clinton. Wilfrid was born May 23, 1915 in Clinton. He married Ruth M. Schump on October 9, 1937 in Iowa City. He was a graduate of The University of Iowa, in 1938. He was vice president of Penick & ford LTD, Inc., and worked there for 38 1/2 years, retiring June 1, 1977. Wilfrid was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where he served on various committees. He did volunteer work at St. Luke's Hospital where he was also a lifetime auxiliary member and volunteer work in South Korea and China. He was a Past Master of Crescnet Lodge #25, a Past Grand Chaplin of the Grand Lodge of Iowa, 1984-1985 and a member of several other Masonic bodies. Instead of flowers a trust fund has been established at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
