Quad City Times Wilbur Koch 12/08/2002 MILES, Iowa -- Services for Wilbur H. Koch, Miles, Iowa, 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sabula United Methodist Church, Sabula. Burial will be in Miles Cemetery, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday at Miller-Law Jones Funeral Home, Preston. He died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. He farmed his entire life in the Miles area. He was born May 13, 1923, in Preston. He married Phyllis Struve in 1950. She died in 1974. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Koch, Miles; a son, Warren, Miles; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; and a special friend, Gerda Peters, Clinton.

The Clinton Herald Wilber H. Koch, 79, of Miles, died Friday at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Sabula United Methodist Church, Sabula. The Rev. Karl Goodfellow of the Sabula United Methodist Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Miles Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, where a Masonic Service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. He was born May 13, 1923, in Preston to Marshall and Elsie Corlis Koch. He married Phyllis Struve on April 20, 1950. She died in 1974. He was a 1940 graduate of Miles High School. He farmed in the Miles area. He was a member of the Sabula United Methodist Church and the former Miles United Methodist Church, a member for more than 50 years of the Bellevue Masonic Lodge 51, member of the Bellevue Eastern Star 359, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason of the Clinton Consistory and was a member of the Clinton County Farm Bureau. In 1944, he organized the Elk River Junior Feeders 4-H club and was a leader for 14 years. he was inducted into the Clinton County 4-H Hall of Fame in 2001. He served for 23 years on the school boards including Miles schools, the East Central School Board and the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency. Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Koch of Miles; one son, Warren Koch of Miles; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Death date: Dec. 6, 2002.
