Helen G. (Ehrensberger) Wilson, 88 of Cobden, Illinois, formerly of Davenport, died peacefully at her home on November 11, 2005.

She was born July 6, 1917 in Preston, Iowa, the daughter of August H. Ehrensberger and Augusta Ehrensberger. She married Melvin O. Wilson in 1941. They were divorced. Helen is survived by a daughter, Judith Chan of Singapore, two sons Richard (Jane) Wilson of Cobden, Illinois, and Randall Wilson of Hillsboro, Oregon; six grandchildren, Angelique (Antonio) Rappa of Singapore, Michelle (Ken) Crouse of Singapore, Elisa (Rahman) Taib of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Charmaine (Peter) Weyhrauch of Waltham, Massachusetts; Katie Wilson of Glen Carbon, Illinois; and Joshua Wilson of Cobden, Illinois; and nine great grandchildren: Asri, Maryam, Lyanna and Alisha Taib; George and Quentin Rappa; Stryder and Slade Crouse; and Katrina Weyhrauch.

She was a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and became a career teacher. She taught in Kellogg, Iowa and Preston, Iowa. She was also a receptionist at the Clinton Machine Corporation in Maquoketa, Iowa. She later taught in Davenport, Iowa at Smart Jr. High from 1961-1972, North High School from 1972-1973, and William Wood Jr. High from 1973-1979. She returned to school and obtained a Masters Degree at the age of 50. Helen retired from the teaching profession in 1979 and traveled extensively around the world. Her mother, father, and brother, Kenneth, precede her in death. Helen was a member of the Methodist church.

Gravesite services will be hold on November 19, 2005 at 11:00 am. with interment in the Preston, Iowa cemetery. Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home, Anna, Illinois, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
