Rosella Marie Eckelberg
BATAVIA — Rosella Marie Eckelberg, 96, of Muscatine and formerly of Batavia, died Wednesday at the Lutheran Home, Muscatine.
The funeral Mass was at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Mary Catholic Church, Fairfield, with Revs. Charles Fladung and Clarence Beckley officiating. Burial will be in the Batavia Cemetery. Visitation was today at the Raymond Funeral Home, Fairfield.
Pallbearers will be Cyril J. Eckelberg, William Cyril Eckelberg, Jesse White, Charles Salyer, Patrick Kessel, Charles Hogan, Matthew Rose and Viril Banowetz.
She was born July 19, 1909, in Browns to Martin and Minnie Elsner Teshak. She grew up in the Maquoketa area. She married Cyril F. Eckelberg on March 29, 1937, at the Sacred Heart Church, Maquoketa. They lived in Batavia from 1958 until 1985 when they moved to Muscatine. He died in 1996.
She was a homemaker. She took care of the elderly for more than 20 years.
She was a member of St. Mathias Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was involved in church activities.
Survivors include her children, Cecilia Ann Eckelberg White of Palyra, Mo., Cyril J. Eckelberg of Clinton, Mary Ellen Eckelberg of Clinton and Bernadette Eckelberg of Muscatine; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Irene Rose of Maquoketa.
Memorials may be made to recitation of Masses in her name.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter and one son.
