CLINTON — Janice M. VenHuizen, 77, of Clinton and formerly of Fulton, Ill., died Tuesday at Mercy North Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Church of the Open Door, Clinton. The Rev. James Machen, pastor of Church of the Open Door, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

She was born June 13, 1928, in Lisbon, N.D., to Frank P. and Elizabeth M. Schroeder Billing. She married James R. VenHuizen on June 6, 1952, in Cooperstown, N.D. He died in 1995.

She was educated in North Dakota grade and high schools. She attended Valley City Community College in North Dakota were she received a teaching certificate. She went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in education from Marycrest College, Davenport.

She taught school in Sutten, N.D., and later in the rural Whiteside County, Ill., schools in Garden Plain, Prairie Center and Union Grove.

She was a member of Church of the Open Door, Clinton.

Survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Hand of Littleton, Colo., Mrs. Debra (Allen) Driscoll of Clinton and Mrs. Julie (Alan) Burris of Parker, Colo.; two sons, Michael (Deola) Anderson of Fort Collins, Colo., and Gary VenHuizen of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Fadness of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Karen Elsinger of Fargo, N.D.; and two brothers, Bernard (Mary Jane) Billing of Boise, Idaho, and Edwin Billing of Bismark, N.D.

She was preceded in death by two husbands and one brother.
