Dorothy L. Burman

DUBUQUE — Dorothy L. Burman, 85, of Luther Manor and formerly of Long Lake, Wis., and Chicago, died Monday Oct. 31, 2005, at Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Dubuque. Burial will be in the Boscobel (Wis.) Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service time Friday at the church. The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Aug. 27, 1920, in Somonauk, Ill., to the Rev. George W. and Elizabeth M. Mutschmann Krueger. She married Roy B. Burman on Nov. 17, 1942, in Abilene, Texas. He died in 1992.

She graduated from Clinton High School. She attended business college for two years. She then attended Wartburg College.

She was a published and award-winning poet. She was a paralegal with her son’s law firm in Chicago.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one son, Craig (Laura) Burman of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. Claire (Brian) Erickson of Chicago and Anne Burman of Sacramento, Calif.; one grandchild; and two sisters, Jeanette Durkop of Thrall, Texas, and Kathryn Wilson of Fredericksburg, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wartburg College, Waverly, or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
