Isaac “Ike” Klavenga
FULTON, Ill. — Isaac “Ike” Klavenga, 97, of Wyndcrest Nursing Home, Clinton, and formerly of Fulton died Tuesday Nov. 1, 2005, at the nursing home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Stephan, pastor of Second Reformed Church in Fulton, officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, Ill.
He was born Feb. 25, 1908, in Paterson, N.J., to John and Fredreka Zaagman Klavenga. He married Mettie M. Oostenryk on April 10, 1942, in Fulton. She died in 1987. He then married Genevieve R. Pessman-Van Vuren on Feb. 14, 1989, in Clinton. She died in 1999.
He was educated at the Fulton Grade School and Fulton Christian School.
He farmed in rural Fulton. He also was employed with Burpee Seed Co., Clinton.
He was a member of Second Reformed Church, Fulton.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Mrs. Joyce (Charles) Jacobson of Kirkland, Ill.; one stepson, Gordon (Mary) Van Vuren of Grand Rapids, Mich.; eight stepgrandchildren; several step great- grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Braun, Mrs. Angeline Miley, Bernice Klavenga and Clara Klavenga, all of Fulton; one brother, Henry (Genevieve) Klavenga of Fulton; and several nieces and nephews.
