MAQUOKETA — Jack K. Griffin, 76, of Maquoketa, died Monday Oct. 24, 2005, at the Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa.

There will be a celebration of his life at 2 p.m. Friday at the Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa, with the Rev. Ruth Ann Scott officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, where a military flag presentation will be conducted by Maquoketa American Legion Post 75, Maquoketa VFW Post 3633 O’Connor-Regenwether and Andrew AMVETS Post 62.

He was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Maquoketa to Kirk E. and Marjorie M. Kent Griffin. He married Karen Johnson. He then married Carrie Peterman Galloway.

He was a Maquoketa High School graduate.

He was a veteran of the Korean War veteran serving with the U.S. Army.

He farmed first and then worked with the Rath Feed Store as a truck driver. He then worked with Larry Ward and Ward’s Welding in Maquoketa for several years and finally as a farmhand for Marvin Heneke.

Survivors include three children, Mrs. Cindy (Terry) Koontz and Mike (Brenda) Griffin, both of Maquoketa and Mrs. Lisa (Alan) Bliss of Andrew; two stepchildren, Sherrie Laughlin of Park View and Rick (Kim) Galloway of Maquoketa; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Carlson of Maquoketa and Mrs. Joan (Dude) Galloway of Lost Nation.

A Jack K. Griffin Memorial Fund has been established.
