SAVANNA, Ill. — Thomas DeWitt Mills, 67, of Savanna, died Wednesday Oct. 19, 2005, at home.

There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna. Inurnment will be in the Savanna Township Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life and luncheon at St. John’s Antl Hall following the committal service at the cemetery.

He was born Aug. 5, 1938, in Muscatine to Edwin and Bette DeWitt Mills. He married Jeannine Davis on Aug. 17, 1956, in Mount Carroll, Ill.

He attended St. John’s Catholic School, Savanna, and Savanna High School. He received his General Equivalency Diploma.

He worked a variety of jobs including selling Rena Ware; railroad carman, switchman, conductor and yard master with the Burlington Railroad; and was self-employed in real estate for many years.

He was a member of the Savanna Chamber of Commerce and the Savanna Main Street Association.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Rena (Jon Wright) Mills of Scotts Valley, Calif., Mrs. Sheri (Tracey) Castro of Savanna, Mrs. Kimberly (Chris) Falk of Savanna and Mrs. Michele (Rockie) Mangler of Savanna; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother, Bette Allison of Savanna; three brothers, Ed (Rene) Mills of Savanna, Paul (Sue) Mills of Savanna and Jack (Meridith) Mills of Fouke, Ark.; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Sandra (Tom) Bourrette of Hanover, Ill., Mrs. Deborah (Jerry) Garvey of Savanna and Marci Davis of Clinton.

Memorials may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
