Tom Kurtz, 76, of Clinton, Iowa passed away Monday, May 27, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics - Iowa City, Iowa.

Harman Thomas Kurtz was born on January 9, 1948 in Evanston, Illinois, the son of George Harman and Lucille Muno. He was a 1966 graduate of Clinton High School and a U.S. Veteran having served in the Iowa Army National Guard.

Tom had several passions in life: he was an admired golfer, proficient drummer, respected business owner, and revered father of 4 children.

His dedication to golf lead to holding the front 9 record of 31 at Clinton Country Club for a time. In 2001, Tom had a 193 yard hole in one on #4. He could be found on the golf course every Tuesday night and Saturday afternoon trying to beat his own best score.

As a drummer, otherwise know as a "rock star" to his children, Tom played in multiple bands including The Trespassers, Peter Brian and the Disciples, The Four Americans, 13th Precinct and the Union Jacks. 13th Precinct appeared on Dick Clark's TV show, "Happening 68" in LA and eventually took a record deal with Dot Records. In 2006, Tom, was inducted into the Iowa Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Union Jacks.

Tom worked at Kurtz Glass for over 50 years. Upon his father's retirement he became owner until selling the business in 2020. His unwavering work ethic was a model to us all.

Tom is survived by his children: Harmony (Jeremy) Eccles of Kansas City, Missouri, Tony (Dawna) Kurtz of Fulton, Illinois, Morgan (Mike) Meinecke of Ankeny, Iowa, and Elliot (Madeleine Nimoy) Kurtz of Los Angles, California; Sydney LaCourse Malone, his wife from 1973-2014; 8 grandchildren; and his brother: Rick Kurtz of Clinton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
