Maya A. Banowetz, 23, of rural Preston and formerly of Spragueville, died Wednesday October 5, 2005 at her home.

There will be a celebration of her life at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Salem Lutheran Church, Andrew, with the Rev.Gaylor Nelson officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa. Burial will be in the Andrew Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 5, 1982, in Calcutta, India, to Clark Sikkema and Donna Duvall. She married Jeff Banowetz on June 28, 2003, at Salem Lutheran Church, Andrew.

She was a 2001 graduate of Andrew High School.

She was a homemaker and worked as a server with the Decker Hotel and Restaurant, Maquoketa.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Adrian Banowetz at home; one daughter, Joslin Banowetz at home; her parents, Clark Sikkema and Donna Duvall of Spragueville; three brothers, Jonathan Sikkema of Santa Fe, N.M., Tristan Sikkema of Maquoketa and Evan Sikkema of Spragueville; grandparents, Robert and June Sikkema of Fulton; and her father and mother-in-law, Jim and Donna Banowetz of Spragueville.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
