Myrle E. Schildgen, 88, of Maquoketa, died Thursday October 6, 2005 at the Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Maquoketa, with the Rev. James Chappell officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.

She was born Aug. 25, 1917, in Maquoketa to Otto A. and Ruby Wing Seeberger. She married John Schildgen in Davenport. He died in 1991.

She graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1935.

She was a real estate agent and was in advertising sales with The Shopper. She was the activities coordinator at Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa, for many years.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Maquoketa, and served on the review board for the local nursing homes.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lynne (Len) Gould of Savannah, Ga., and Mrs. Patricia (Bill) Kahlenberg of St. Charles, Ill.; five sons, John Gregory (Vanna) Schildgen, Tom Schildgen and Marty Schildgen, all of Austin, Texas, Mike Schildgen and Tim Schildgen, both of Dubuque; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Helene Schlack of Beverly Hills, Calif., Dorothy Long of Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Patricia (Ron) Schlesch of Summerfield, Ga.; two brothers, Otto (Pat) Seeberger of San Diego and Edward (Margaret) Seeberger of Maquoketa; and one brother-in-law, Asher Schroeder of Maquoketa.
