Donald D. Huffman, 88, of Ridgecrest Village in Davenport, died Wednesday October 5, 2005 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

There will be celebration of life memorial services at 10 a.m. Saturday at Koning Chapel, Ridgecrest Village, 4130 Northwest Blvd., Davenport. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island, Ill.

He was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Maquoketa to Chester L. and Cena Hertensen Huffman. He married Emily H. ”Dessah“ Nicolaisen on Sept. 13, 1953, in Clinton.

He served with the U.S. Army from May 1941 to January 1946 during World War II, obtaining the rank of captain.

He was vice president and general manager of Republic Electric, where he was employed for 31 years starting as an outside salesman with the company.

He was a member of Edwards Congregational, UCC, Davenport; and Camanche Masonic Lodge 60, which he was a 50-year member.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Priscilla (J.B.) Cronkleton of Davenport; one son, Richard (Kim) Huffman of Dunlap (Peoria), Ill.; five grandchildren; and one brother, Robert E. Huffman of Clinton.

Memorials may be made to the Ridgecrest Charitable Fund.
