Janice M. Van Horn, 68, of Clinton, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at her home.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2005, at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wayne Weissenbuehler officiating. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Steve Chismarich, Joe Camillo, Ron Emerson, Harold Massner, Greg Burken, and Scott Hansen. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory.
Janice May Traver was born May 19, 1937, in Clinton, the daughter of Charles and Georiga (Yopst) Traver. She married Allan Van Horn on May 18, 1958, at First United Methodist Church, Clinton.
She was a graduate and valedictorian of the class of 1955 at Elvira High School. She also attended Iowa State University and Cornell College.
She was a homemaker. In her younger years she was a bookkeeper at the Iowa State Savings Bank in Clinton.
She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Clinton Historical Society and loved to garden and tend to her flowers.
She is survived by her husband, Allan, of Clinton; one daughter, Lora, and her husband, Tim Klein, of Clinton; two grandchildren, Courtney and Brittney Klein, of Clinton; two nephews, Mark Petersen, and his wife, Beth, of Davenport, Iowa, and Scott Petersen, and his wife, Alexia, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and one aunt, Venita Yopst, of Clinton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Priscilla Petersen, in 1972, and one infant daughter.
The family requests that memorials be made to Camp Courageous.
