Robert R. "Bob" Schuster, 59, DeWitt, Iowa, died Wednesday morning, May 25, 2005, while working.
Robert Ralph Schuster was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, September 3, 1945, the son of Robert E. and June (Whitman) Schuster. He was a 1964 graduate of Central Clinton Community School District and was a 1966 graduate of Clinton Community College. Bob also attended Augustana College. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Vietnam Era. He married Carol Ann Dalton on January 20, 1968, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Villa Nova. Bob managed the fertilizer plant in Low Moor for Standard Oil and owned and operated a tank wagon for Ben Hunter. He also owned and operated a dump truck. Bob retired from River Valley Co-op in December, 2004, following 13 years of service. Most recently he was driving truck for Roger Kinney.
He was a faithful life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. Bob also was a member of Eugene McManus American Legion Post #238, DeWitt. He greatly loved his grandkids, his John Deere Tractors, playing cards, tractor pulls, being outdoors, and caring for the lawns of his family.
Surviving are his loving wife of 37 years, Carol; two daughters, Shelly Borota, and her husband, Brian, DeWitt, and Denise Yarolem, and her husband, Scott, DeWitt; a son, William "Will" Schuster, Manassas, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Natasha, Billy, Ashley, Grace, Maggie, Robert and Dalton; his mother, June Schuster, DeWitt; mother-in-law, Lois Dalton, DeWitt; two sisters, Judy Gold, and her husband, Grant, Des Moines, and Beth Ann Cox, and husband, Randy, Ottumwa, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Dale Dalton, and his wife, Bobbie, Clinton; a sister-in-law, Mary Jean Nantz, DeWitt; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert, his father-in-law, William "Bill" Dalton, and a brother-in-law, Larry Dalton.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 2 until 8 p.m. today, with a vigil Service at 8 p.m. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2005, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. The Rev. Fr. H. Robert Harness officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dave Whitman, Wayne Whitman, Dave Weiskircher, Carlie Grimm, Dick Walker and Keith Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Yarolem, Brian Borota, Dale Dalton and Grant Gold.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart or American Lung Association.
