David J. Hand, 73, formerly of Clinton and DeWitt areas, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Unity Hospital in Muscatine, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in DeWitt, Iowa. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. today at Pape Funeral Home in Clinton and Wednesday 9:30 a.m. until the service hour at the church in DeWitt. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery in Clinton.
David was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Dave and Lydia (Powers) Hand. David farmed with his parents on the family farm for most of his life.
David is survived by his brother, Harold (Harriet) Hand, of DeWitt, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Mary (Dale) Eggers, of Maquoketa, Iowa; his sister-in-law, Geraldine Hand, of DeWitt; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and two brothers.
