Donald E. Mangler, 70, of Clinton, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus, Clinton.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2004, at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula, Iowa, with Pastor Robert Krueger officiating. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. today at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig-Dennis A. Lemke Funeral Home and Crematory. Pallbearers will be Greg Hlubek, Mike Hlubek, Chad Mangler, Bill Hugunin, John Foster, Joe Leonard, Kyle Spormann and Mark Rehr.
Donald Elmer Mangler was born January 29, 1934, in Clinton, the son of Elmer and Genevieve (Leckband) Mangler. He married Judith Best on April 15, 1956, in Clinton. She died January 27, 1996. He later married Joleen "Jody" Marburger on May 1, 1999, in Clinton.
He graduated from Miles High School in 1951.
He was employed with Gordy's Standard Station as a service manager for 12 years, Sanitary Farm Dairy in delivery for 18 years, Pony Express as a truck driver for 11 years and with Midwest Poly of Clinton from 1993 till present.
He was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula where he was a deacon. In Clinton he was a member of the Emulation Lodge 255, Associate Patron of the Eastern Star 65, and member of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Joleen "Jody" Mangler, of Clinton; two daughters, Sheila Mangler, of Chicago, and Laura (Tom) Montgomery, of Ankeny, Iowa; son, Steven (Kathy) Mangler, of Clinton; two grandchildren, Beth and Scott Montgomery; seven stepchildren, Judy (Gregg) Matthiesen, of Bryant, Iowa, Brent (Deb) Marburger, of Sabula, Jayne (Jerry) Weber, of Sabula, Brian (Kelly) Marburger, of Miles, Iowa, Scott (Angie) Marburger, of Sabula, Janet (Reynold) Giddings, of Sabula, and Jill Marburger, of Baltimore, Md.; 26 step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Hlubek, of Sabula, and Joyce Spormann, of Sabula; and brother, Ron (Linda) Mangler, of Bellevue, Iowa.
His parents and wife (Judith Mangler) preceded him in death.
The family requests the memorials be made to the family for memorial of their choice.
