Mrs. Mildred Farber Dohse, 86, DeWitt, Iowa, died Friday evening, Nov. 26, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.
Mildred Margaret Farber was born Jan. 2, 1918, in Donahue, Iowa, Scott County, a daughter of Beverly and DeElda (Steward) Farber. She attended Scott and Clinton County Schools. Mildred married Marvin Lawrence Dohse, in Clinton, Iowa, on Nov. 27, 1937. They farmed at Rural DeWitt until 1965 when they moved to town and Mildred began working for Iowa Mutual Insurance Company. She retired from Iowa Mutual in 1983. Marvin preceded Mildred in death on April 3, 1989. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, DeWitt, and the Women of the Moose, Davenport. She enjoyed her family and the time she and her husband, Marvin, had spent together.
Surviving are two daughters, Arlene Petersen, Walcott, Iowa, and Marlene Wilson and her husband, Mel, Davenport; a son, Kenneth Dohse and his wife, Alice, Long Beach, Calif.; grandchildren, Michele (Drake) Mayerhofer, and Julie (Steve) Dircks, Coral Springs, Fla., Cindy (Kevin) Blake, Walcott. Brianne Dohse, Long Beach, Calif., Kim Dohse, New Orleans, La., Jordy (Charlie) Daniels, DeWitt, Kelly (Jeff) Roehm, Davenport, Stacy (Brian) Bousselot, Calamus, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Austin and Kayla Daniels, Christopher Cooper, Chelsea and Chase Roehm, Brandon and Dylan Bousselot, Garrett Blake, Kenzie and Carson Dircks; step-great-grandchildren, Karissa and Miranda Mayerhofer; a brother, Lester (Betty) Farber, Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters-in-law, Grace Farber, Moline, and Vinetta Farber, DeWitt; a special friend of the family, Loren Jasper, DeWitt. Preceding Mildred in death along with her husband were a daughter, Phyllis Hamman, two brothers, Donald and George, and a son-in-law, James Petersen.
Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30. Service of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Kledis will be officiating. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. Pallbearers will be Jordy and Charlie Daniels, Cindy and Kevin Blake, Jeff and Kelly Roehm and Stacy and Brian Bousselot. Honorary pallbearers will be Drake and Michele Mayerhofer, Steve and Julie Dircks, Brianne Dohse and Kimberly Dohse.
