Eugene "Gene" Guidebeck, 70, of Clinton, Iowa, died, Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center North Campus. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at the Saint Paul Lutheran Church of Clinton, with Pastor Elizabeth Liggett officiating. Burial will be in the Springdale Cemetery, Clinton, Iowa. Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, from 2 till 5 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig-Dennis A. Lemke Funeral Home and Crematory. Serving, as pallbearers will be Harold Ready, Don Skoff, Robert Wiper, Mark Johnson, Eric Christopher and Jim Heidt.
Eugene Francis Guidebeck was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Munising, Mich., the son of Roland and Eva (Rivord) Guidebeck. He married Joan Wockenfuss on June 23, 1956, in Clinton.
He graduated from Clinton High School in 1954.
He was employed with PCS Nitrogen, formerly Hawkeye Chemical, of Clinton as a Maintenance Supervisor for 33 years before retiring in 1998.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Guidebeck, of Clinton; a son, Steven (Laurie) Guidebeck, of Clinton; three daughters, Karen (Mark) Johnson, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Sandra Prior, of Van Horne, Iowa, and Mary (Eric) Christopher, of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Ronald (Bernice) Guidebeck, of Clinton; one sister, Eleanor Sheahan, of North Hollywood, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, one brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
The family requests the memorials be made to the Clinton YMCA or to the Clinton Humane Society.
