The funeral will be 2:30 p. m. Friday at Clinton Memorial Funeral Home for Martin J. Coon,65,of 1222 12th Ave N. who died Tuesday at Samaritian North.
The Rev. Fred Schauer, of Chancy Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Mahmens, Wayne Paulline, Fred Terrock, Steven and Thomas Coon and Dennis Ytsen. Honorary pallbearers will be Claire Butz and Earl A Studemann.
Mr Coon was born Sept 14,1925 in Sabula to Price and Bertha Burton Coon . He married Eileen Nelson Massey in 1946 in Las Vegas, Nev. He later married Jacqueline E. Satterfield, March 29, 1969 in Clinton.
He lived in Clinton since 1940 when he moved from Davenport. He was employed as a leadman in the starch house at Clinton Corn Proceesing Company for over 29 years retiring in 1983.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army in the European Theater where he earned three Bronze Stars.
He was a member of the Quarter Century Club and Chancy Lutheran Church. He pitched baseball in numerous leagues in Savanna and Clinton areas and was a avid bowler.
Survivors include his wife; two son Michael E Coon of Denver, Colo. and Mark A Satterfield of Chicago;two daughters, Mrs. John(Toni) Glasgow and Mrs. Joel (DeeAnna) Butz, both of Clinton; nine grandsons; a brother Howard L.Coon of Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters.
