The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Immanuel Lutheran Church, for Waldo F. "Bud" Wendell, 63, of Charlotte, who died Monday of asphyxiation following a quarry accident near DeWitt.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today in Clinton Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Wendell was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Eaglevill, Mo., to Garland and Iva Haskins Wendell. He married Ramona Jacobsen, Sept. 18, 1949, in Charlotte. He attended the Davenport public schools and served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was employed by Aggrecon Corp., was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, had formerly served on the church council and was a former Sunday school superintendent. He was a member of Charlotte Legion Post 715, a former fire chief of Charlotte Volunteer Fire Department and a past city council member.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Mark of Eldridge, Brad of Clinton, and Ross of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren; and a sister, Deva Spiegel, of Moline.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
