The Clinton Herald Saturday 11 September 1976 p. 10 Joseph E. Scanlan, 41, Petersburg, Ill., formerly of DeWitt, died Friday in St. Paul, Minn., after heart surgery. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, DeWitt. The Rev. Anthony Conrad will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Hanrahan Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Monday. The Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Vistation at the Hurley Funeral Home, Petersburg, will be Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. He was born Dec. 20, 1934, in DeWitt, the son of Dr. George and Winifred Scanlan. He married Margaret McLaughlin. Mr. Scanlan was employed by the 3M Co. Springfield, Ill. Survivors include
his widow; a son, Michael; two daughters, Mary and Joanne, all at home; his mother, Mrs. George Scanlan, DeWitt; four sisters, Mrs. Frank (Mary) San Felippo, San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Dave (Kathleen) Townley, Portland, Ore., Mrs. John (Alice) Dolan, San Anselmo, Calif., and Mrs. Ronald (Lucille) Rothert, Maquoketa. He was preceded in death by his father.
