The Clinton Herald Monday June 18, 1934 p. 5 Joseph William Beez, 69, 2319 North Second street, died suddenly early this morning in his home. Heart trouble was the cause of his death, although he has been in failing health for several months. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning with requiem mass at 9 o'clock in St. Irenaeus church. The Rev. E.F. Jakcson will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Mr. Beez was born May 6, 1865, in the old town of Lyons, a son of Dr. and mrs. Casper Beez, pioneer residents of this county. He received his education in the Lyons public schools. When a young man he was employed by The Clinton Herald and the Lyons Mirror, later he entered the grocery business, conduction a store in Main avenue 40 years. He retired from business eight years ago because of ill health. His first marriage was to Miss Mary Tigh, who died in 1893. ONe daughter, Laura, was born to this union. Mr. Beez was married to Mrs. Martha Doran, July 4, 1903, and one daughter, Bernadette, was born to this union. Besides his widow he is survived by two daughters, Miss Laura Beez of Chicago and Mrs. LeRoy Mousel of this city, and two step-daughters, Miss Eliza Doran and Miss Florence Doran at home, and a granddaughter, Mary Jacqueline Mousel of this city. Mr. Beez was a member of Pioneer camp, 1, Modern Woodmen of America, the Lyons Veteran Firemen's association, and was one of the surviving members of the famous C.L. Root championship drill corps.
The Clinton Herald Wednesday June 20, 1934 Funeral services for J.W. Beez, who died early Sunday morning in his home, 2319 North Second street, were held this morning with requiem high mass at 9 o'clock in St. Irenaeus church. The Rev. E.F. Jackson, pastor, officiated. The church choir sang the mass under the direction of the organist, Mrs. J.J. Owens. Burial was in Calvary cemetery, the escorts being Arnold Holling, Edward Clancy, Wilfred Strohman, Edward Hilgendorf, Walter Bockel, John Doran, C.A. Buechner and Walter Arlen. Relatives and friends coming from out of the city to attend the funeral were, Miss Laura Beez and Mrs. E.E. Fortier, Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. John Metzger, Mrs. Charles Wellnitz, Mrs. Fred Day, Miss Gladys Day and Mrs. Piertnes, Moline, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Moor, Rock Island, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Joseph McCann and daughter, Jean, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Marcus, Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Foley and family, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schum and daughter Lorraine, Mrs. Floyd Norpel and Miss Carrie Albers, Bellevue, Mrs. G.W. Moore, Winnetka, Ill., Mrs. U.S. Brumer, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Staubach and Mrs. Henry Mousel, DeWitt, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Letch, Toledo, Mr. and Mrs. J.V. Tague and family, Belle Plaine, and Mr. and Mrs. R. Costello, Delmar.
