Services for Herbert W. Paarman, 72, of Lost Nation, were held at 10:30 a.m. Mon., April 11, at Union Presbyterian Church, Lost Nation. Burial was in Massillon Cemetery, Massillon, Iowa. The Rev. Paul Skelley officiated.
Pallbearers were Les Paarmann, Jeff Steward, Todd Schwartz, Harold Fischer, Mark Nicely and Gregory Schwartz.
Hayden Funeral Home, Lost Nation, was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Paarmann died Fri., April 8, at Jackson County Publis Hospital, Maquoketa, after a sudden illness. Herbert Paarmann was born Jan. 7, 1922, on the family farm near DeWitt, the son of Harry and Amanda Meggers Paarmann. He married Sadie Willert on Sept. 19, 1971, at Las Vegas, Nev. She died in December of 1993.
The couple farmed near Lost Nation and in 1977 they moved into Lost Nation.
Mr. Paarmann attended country school and high school in Grand Mound.
He was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Lost Nation.
Survivors include stepdaughters, Janie Schwartz, Eldridge; Rita (Mrs. Richard) Straka, Blue Grass; a stepson, Maurice Klahn, Lost Nation; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; sisters, Wilma (Mrs. Einar) Simonsen, Grand Mound; Evelyn Steward, DeWitt; and brothers, Raymond and Earl, both of DeWitt.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
