Clinton Herald Wednesday 14 October 1981 p. 15 James T. O'Brien, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, formerly of Clinton, died Tuesday in Veteran's Hospital, Iowa City. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, with the Revs. Paul Albers and Barnabus Barker officiating. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Weir Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, where visitation will follow. He was born Jan. 4, 1926, in Clinton , to Joseph J. and Irene M. McGrath O'Brien. He married Margaret E. O'Halloran Aug. 27, 1945, in Clinton. He was a World War II veteran and was employed by Ebert Supply Co., Burlington. He headed the Alcoholic and Drug Commission in Burlington. He had worked for Franks Furniture, Burlington and for the Michigan Salt Co. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Moos Lodge, all of Mt. Pleasant. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Clinton, and attended Loras College in Dubuque. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael D. O'Brien of Spokane, Wash., and Thomas C. O'Brien of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Mrs. Craig (Patti) Bush of New London, Iowa; a grandchild; his mother of Clinton; a brother, David J. O'Brien of Minneapolis, Minn.; and two sisters, JoAnn Arlen of Moline, Ill., and Marigrace Freyschlag of Denver, Colo. He was preceded in death by his father.
