Henry N. Stehben died suddenly Saturday night at 11:15 at his home, 804 North Eighth street. Mr. Stehben had been in poor health for seven years, suffering from high blood pressure which culminated Saturday night in a stroke of apoplexy, causing almost immediate death.
Deceased was born in Schleswig, Holstein, Germany, March 18, 1867. He came to American in 188?, locating in Lyons, where he was married to Miss Emma Winkler, July 20, 1880.
Mr. Stehben was a valued employee of the Clinton Water Works company for 36 years, retiring from service at the beginning of his illness.
He leaves his wife, three sons and one daughter, John Stehben of Rockford, Ill., Arnold and Harold at home and Mrs. Roy Reusche of Lyons. He leaves also one sister, two brothers and two half brothers, all residing in Germany. There are two grandchildren.
Mr. Stehben was a member of Lyons lodge No. 61, I. O. O. F. Lyons encampment 21, I. O. O. F. and Pioneer camp No. 1, M. W. A.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home with Rev. Daniel Hogan officiating. Lodge 61, I. O. O. F. will conduct the services at the grave in Oakland cemetery.
Manager W. L. Meeker of the Clinton Water company today expressed his regret in the loss of Mr. Stehben, who had been connected with the company for 36 years, and who was a most faithful and valued employee. There is scarcely a house in town, Mr. Meeker said, with which Mr. Stehben had not had something to do during his long period of service as outside foreman for the utility company.
