Miss Mayme McGrath, daughter of John McGrath of 2810 North Second street, died at 5:40 Sunday morning after a year's illness with diabetes.
Mary Elizabeth McGrath was born near Andover, may 9, 1871. She attended school in that neighborhood, and spent her entire life there until last November, when she and her father and brother Edward came to Lyons to live.
She is survived by her father, two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. C. R. Kross of Almont, Mrs. J. R. Brown of Savanna, Frank H. McGrath of Lyons and Edward V. McGrath of Milledgeville, Ill. A brother, James McGrath, died October 10, 1925. Her mother passed away July 11, 1916.
Miss McGrath was widely known thru the county and her loss will be sincerely regretted. She was exceedingly faithful to her family and her devotion to her father, John McGrath, one of Clinton county's oldest settlers, made itself manifest in her untiring care and thought of him. Ever generous and unselfish, she lost sight of self when she found an opportunity for doing good to friend or neighbor. Hers was the truly Christian spirit, which quietly does the necessary work of the moment heedless of self interest and personal approbation in her desire to be of service.
A solemn requiem high mass will be celebrated at her funeral Tuesday morning at 9:30 at St. Irenaeus church. Burial will be made in Calvary cemetery.
