Carole Jeanne Blumberg (1933-2020)

Carole Jeanne Blumberg passed away on Tuesday, August 25th, 2020 in West Des Moines, Iowa after a long illness. Carole was born on December 3rd, 1933 in Clinton, Iowa to John and Esther (Rasmussen) Steffensen. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1951. After graduation, Carole was a telephone operator in Clinton. In August of 1952 she married Mel Blumberg in Baltimore, Maryland. Mel and Carole owned and operated Clinton Tobacco and Candy until their retirement in 1980. Carole was active as a volunteer for Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of P.E.O. (HV). Carole and Mel enjoyed traveling across the country visiting their children and grandchildren.
Carole is survived by her sister Sandra (Rod) Parsons of St. Charles, Illinois; her children, Dan (Kim) Blumberg of Los Alamitos, California; Robin (Gary) Klass of Calabasas, California; Lauren Blumberg (Nancy Hammond) of West Des Moines, Iowa and Susan (Roman) Kab of Raleigh, North Carolina; 5 nieces and a nephew. Carole has 12 grandchildren, three step -grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother John ( Diane) Steffensen of Tampa, Florida.
A memorial service will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Carole's honor.
