Frederick Klinge, a resident of Clinton county for about 30 years died at Crete, Nebraska, on May 10, 1920, at the age of 96 years, three months and 23 days. The deceased was born in Germany in 1824 and came to America in 1852, first settling in Chicago, shortly thereafter he went to Davenport making the trip by boat as there was no railway communication at that time.
A few years later he came to Clinton county and purchased a farm four miles south of Andover where he made his home for 30 years. In 1893 he was married to Marie Wolf of Creete, Neb., and in 1900 moved to that place after residing on a Nebraska farm for ten years.
Besides his aged wife he is survived by several nieces and nephews among them Mrs. P. H. Struve of Almont. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Klinge of Maxwell, Iowa accompanied by Mrs. Struve went to Nebraska prior to the death of the elder Mr. Klinge.
Mr. Klinge was very well known throughout the county as an enterprising farmer and an upbuilder for the community. He had been ill for some time and suffered much prior to his death which marked the passing of another pioneer in this part of the state.
