Leon Gordon, daughter of James and Isabel Gordon, was born in Syracuse, N. Y. She came to Illinois when a child and moved to Lyons in her early youth. In 1881 she was united in marriage to William C. F. Heupel who survives her. She is also survived by one son, Gordon, two grand-children, Rober and Isabel Heupel; her Mother, Mrs. W. H. Baker, and one sister, Mrs. W. D. Jacobsen, all of Lyons.
Death came to Mrs. Heuple Tuesday morning at 9:10 o'clock at the State University hospital at Iowa City. Five weeks ago she underwent a very serious operation and since that time her condition has been quite serious although at times she seemed better and there were hopes for her recovery. However, Sunday her condition became critical and her husband and son left for Iowa City at once and remained with her until she died.
The deceased was very well known in this city where she has scores of friends who read with regret the news of her death. She was closely identified with the Grace Episcopal church and its workings, and was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Oakland Cemetery association.
