Alvin J. Ehrich, 93, formerly of Thomson, IL, died Friday, May 8th, in Mesa, AZ. According to his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A private graveside family service will be held at a later date.
Alvin was born on February 11, 1927 at home in Rockham, SD. He was the son of John and Lillian (Beatty) Ehrich. He married Florence Marshall on November 15, 1948 in Huron, SD.
Alvin served in the army from 1945 to 1946. He worked for over 30 years with the Army Civil Service before retiring. He was stationed at the Savanna Army Depot at the time of his retirement. He was also employed at Buck's Barn in Thomson, IL as a grounds keeper.
He loved being in Arizona where he enjoyed a good game of horseshoes and cards. He also looked forward to his kids visiting him every February for his birthday.
Survivors include: Five children: Nadine Daehler of Mesa, AZ, Kathy (LaVerne) Borgman of Fulton, IL, Phyllis (Jim) McGinnis of Fort Worth, TX, Daryl (Pam) Ehrich of Thomson, IL, and Pam St.Ores of Quincy, IL; ten grandchildren: Danae (Brian)McCormac, Christopher (Becky) Borgman, Krystal McGinnis, Matthew McGinnis, Sean (Paige) Ehrich, Alicia (Jeff) Smith, Devin (Haley) Ehrich, Holly (Casey) Hlubek, Heather (Stacey) St.Ores and twenty-one great grandchildren.
He is also survived by three sisters: Shirley Davis of Mesa, AZ, Doris (Lefty) Sterud of Fairfield Glade, TN, and Janice Brown of Clinton, IA and several nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Florence, son Mike, and his parents, two sisters Murtis Ehrich and Vivian Levtzow, one brother Jack Ehrich, and one granddaughter Megan Daehler.
