SUDDEN DEATH
Our citizens were startled Monday afternoon to hear of the sudden death of their fellow townsman, J. B. Crosby, Esq. Mr. Crosby had been suffering for some time from lung difficulties, and had for a few days past been kept from his daily business. The attending physician left him at noon, not thinking him in a critical state, but at about 2 o'clock, Dr. P. J. Farnsworth of this city was called, only to find him in deaths embrace, his life fast ebbing, by congestion of the lungs. At half past 2, life had fled from the mortal tenement in the 43d year of his age.
Mr. Crosby came to this county about 15 years since, and has been during this time, closely identified with many enterprising monuments of the city. For many years he resided in Lyons, and occupied prominent positions, socially, politically and religiously. He was a member of the Congregational church at Lyons, also of the Masonic Order of that city. As a citizen of Lyons he occupied a foremost position, but discouragements with departing health have tended to throw a gloom over his life and prospects, for the last few years. He was a member of the order of Odd Fellows in this city.
The funeral services will take place to-morrow at 2 o'clock in the Congregational church, participated in by both fraternities, of which he was a member. Let Masons and Odd Fellows in this place and Lyons gather in sadness around the grave open to receive a departed brother.
