Mrs. W. H. Sheward passed away very suddenly this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Don D. Babbit, 1008 North second street, aged 81 years.

Mrs. Sheward had been in her usual apparent health when she retired last night and was called at 8 o'clock by her daughter. Mrs. Babbit returned to the sleeping apartment of her mother a few minutes later, and found her lying dead on the bed. She had suddenly and peacefully succumbed to an attack of heart failure, or of apoplexy.

The deceased was one of Clinton's earliest residents, coming here in the early days of the city's history. She was born in Fannelsburgh, Pa.

The deceased spent a great part of her life in Clinton. For several years, however, she made her home with relatives in Bay City, Mich., returning to Clinton about four and one-half years ago. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Babbit of Clinton and Miss Jean Sheward of Bay City, and a son, W. H. Sheward of Saginaw, city editor of the Saginaw Evening News.

The deceased was a faithful and consistent member of the congregation of St. John's Episcopal church.

The funeral will be held from the Babbit residence at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Friends are asked to refrain from sending flowers.
