October 17, 1917 - The Clinton Advertiser page 10

Mrs. Anna Sorensen of Elgin, Ill. formerly Miss Anna Hansen of this city, was struck by a Chicago & Northwestern train and instantly killed on a grade crossing in Elgin between and 8 and 9 o'clock Sunday evening.

The remains were brought to this city via the Chicago & Northwestern, reaching here at 10:10 o'clock this morning, and the funeral was held from the Danish Lutheran church Rev. P. Gotke, the pastor, officiating. Interment was in Springdale cemetery.

There were no witnesses to the fatal accident in Elgin. Mrs. Sorensen was on her way to her home, and in crossing the tracks, was struck by a train. Her lifeless body was found shortly afterwards, and from the nature of her wounds it is believed that death was instantaneous.

The deceased was for many years a resident of this city, but had made her home of late years in Elgin. Her husband passed away six months ago and the deceased is survived by her mother, Mrs. Kathrine Hansen, formerly of Clinton, who made her home with her; a son, Schiller Hansen, of Shannon, Ill., who accompanied the remains of his mother to Clinton; two brothers in Clinton, Bertol and Martin Hansen, and a sister, Miss Minnie Hansen, who resides in Elgin.
