14 November 1935 - The Lowden News
Harry W. Mess, 33, was found hanging in the barn on his father's farm, one and one-half miles southwest of Wheatland, about ten o'clock Monday morning by his father, John Mess. No reason for his act could be determined.
Before ending his life, Mess packed his clothes in his car, apparently intending to leave the farm, then changed his mind and hitched up a team to go out in the field to pick corn. The team was found awaiting its driver after the body had been discovered.
The deceased was born near Elvira, April 8, 1902. His only survivor is his father. His mother died several years ago.
