WIFE OF LIEUT. KELSEY IS DEAD AT LITTLE ROCK
Mrs. Lloyd J. Kelsey, wife of Lieutenant Kelsey of Battery A, Iowa Field Artillery, is dead at Little Rock, Ark.

The intelligence of Mrs. Kelsey's sudden death came to Clinton this morning in a message sent by the lieutenant to his mother, Mrs. L. J. Kelsey. The message was brief, simply stating that Mrs. Kelsey had died this morning, and that the remains are to be sent to Clinton for burial.

The deceased was a former Clinton girl. She was united in marriage with Mr. Kelsey in Chicago four years ago, her maiden name having been Mabel Rowe. She is survived by her mother, her husband, and two children, Louis, aged 8, and Margaret, aged 2.

The intelligence of Mrs. Kelsey's death was received with deep regret by many Clinton friends this morning, and came as a shock to her relatives. She left Clinton three weeks ago for Little Rock, with her children, to remain there during the time Battery A is encamped at Fort Logan Roots, which is near the Arkansas city. Her Clinton relatives had received letters from her up to Wednesday of this week, and she did not speak of being ill. It is believed her death this morning was the result of a sudden seizure. Members of the family in Clinton were expecting another message today, containing more details of the sad occurrence, and the probable time of the arrival of the young woman's remains in this city.

L. J. Kelsey, father of Lieutenant Kelsey, states that his son probably will leave some time today for Clinton with his wife's remains, and the journey will consume about 30 hours. He expects the funeral party to reach here early Monday. The funeral probably will not be held before Wednesday. Mrs. Frank G. Luth is at Little Rock and probably will come to this city with the party.

Mrs. Kelsey was 24 years of age.

Funeral services will be held at the Congregational church Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The Rev. Geo. R. Cady will officiate and interment will be made at Oakland cemetery.
