Lost Nation, Ia. June 19--Geo. Paris died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. L. Linney Sunday evening, after a lingering illness of several weeks. Mr. Paris was one of Lost Nation's prominent citizens for many years. He was about 75 years old, and is survived by his daughter, Mrs. J. L. Linney of Lost Nation, his son, Walter Paris of Delmar, and brother Wm. Paris of Lost Nation. The funeral was held today with interment at the cemetery near Maquoketa.

Lost Nation, Iowa, June 21--George Wesley Paris was born near Lebanon, Ohio, Sept. 13th, 1842. He passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joshua Linney, June 17th, 1917. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1857. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Gish, Feb. 5th, 1863, when he moved to Illinois, where he lived five years. Later he returned to Iowa where the most of his life has been spent. His wife preceded him to the great unknown. He was a member of Monitor lodge A.F. & A.M. of Delmar, also a member of Gardner Chapter O.E.S. of this place. He enlisted in the 26th regiment, Iowa volunteers July 1862, but on account of ill health he was discharged the following September. He leaves to mourn his loss, one son, Walter of Delmar, a daughter, Mrs. Joshua Linney of this place, three grand children, a mother, Mrs. Susan Paris and brothers, Mr. Wm. Paris of this place, and Elmer Paris of Canada.

The funeral was held Tuesday with services at the house where Rev. Boomershine conducted the services, after which the Masonic lodge took charge of the funeral. Interment was made at Union cemetery.

Mr. Paris was of a genial kindly nature that indeared him to all who knew him and will be greatly missed by his many friends and relatives. He had been ill for some time and the angel of death was a welcome visitor to relieve him of the sufferings of this world.
