WOMAN OF 84 ENDS LIFE BY POISON ROUTE
MRS. MARY KINKAID OF ELVIRA DRINKS PARIS GREEN
SWALLOWS LARGE QUANTITY
Medical Aid Summoned, But of No Avail--Inquest Develops Act With Suicidal Intent
Mrs. Mary Kinkaid, aged 84 years, committed suicide last night at her home, a quarter mile east of Elvira, by drinking a large quantity of paris green mixed with some water in a cream pitcher. The coroner's jury, summoned by Dr. M. E. Anderson to the inquest at 7:30 this morning, decided that the aged woman took the poison with suicidal intent.

She swallowed the poison about 8 o'clock last evening, and members of the family, seeing that she was sick, called Dr. Kack of Elvira, who after his arrival, also summoned Dr. H. R. Sugg of Clinton. When Dr. Sugg arrived on the scene about 11 o'clock, Mrs. Kinkaid was already unconscious, and she passed away about midnight.

When Dr. Kack arrived, she admitted to him that she had taken the poison, this being the first intimation the family had of that fact. She told Dr. Kack that she had found a package of paris green on the clock, it having been used as a potato bug killer last season. The pitcher in which she had mixed the deadly poison, was found broken under the clock.

Mrs. Kinkaid was the widow of John Kinkaid, who passed away about ?? years ago. She had been living on the old farm with her daughter, Miss Lizzie Kinkaid.

Surviving are two sons, John of Washington, D.C., and David of Elvira, and three daughters, Mrs. Belle Williams of Cherokee, Ia., Lizzie Kinkaid at home, and Mrs. George Enright of Elvira. Another daughter, Mrs. Dan Taylor of Fulton, passed away about two years ago.

The deceased had been in fairly good health, until recently when she had been ailing somewhat. Despondency brought on the act of suicide. The coroner's jury this morning consisted of Ray Meyers, William Schroeder and G. L. Higgins.

The funeral arrangements have not been completed. The arrival of her son from the northwest is being awaited and the funeral will probably take place the beginning of the week.
